Bacon Cheddar Fondue

  • 5 slices bacon
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1-1/2 lbs sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 3 dashes hot sauce
  • Dippers such as Italian or French bread chunks, broccoli, mushrooms

Fry bacon until crisp. Remove from pan, crumble and set aside. Add onion and garlic to bacon drippings and saute until tender but not browned.

Add soup and slowly stir in milk until smooth. Add cheese, a handful at a time and stir until melted. Add Worcestershire sauce, mustard and hot sauce.

Pour mixture into a fondue pot set to low and serve with dippers.
